About York Prep New York Private School
In 1969, a young couple named Ronald and Jayme Stewart saw their vision of an intimate but challenging New York City private school come to life. Since its inception, York Prep has provided a stimulating atmosphere for students in grades 6–12 to learn and develop their own strengths, as well as achieve academic success. This co-educational, fully accredited, independent New York private school helps students accomplish their goals through small classes, focused coursework, technology training, rewarding extracurricular activities, and intensive academic support.
A day in the life of a York Prep student begins at 7:45 a.m. and is packed with learning opportunities both formal and informal until the final bell rings at 3:12 p.m. During the day, students might be poring over one of the Library/Media Center’s 6,000+ volumes, meeting with Mrs. Stewart to receive college guidance, honing their creative and rhetorical skills in English class, studying organic compounds, solving linear equations, or meeting with a Jump Start teacher to strategize approaches for academic success. After school, students can participate in one of York Prep’s nearly 40 clubs and activities, play a number of non-competitive and varsity-level sports, or work toward fulfilling their annual community service requirements. Please contact us if you have additional questions about York Prep.
